Tahoe Truckee Excellence In Education Foundation supports quality public education within the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. The Foundation raises money and provides grants, resources and partnerships to benefit students, teachers and the Kindergarten through 12th Grade educational community as a whole through innovative programs such as Skiing For Schools, Dining For Schools, and Golfing For Schools.
Skiing For Schools / Boarding For Schools. Every year the Foundation's ski area partners set aside special Skiing For Schools days to benefit the Foundation. At each Skiing for Schools day, a special discounted lift ticket is offered and all proceeds from these ticket sales benefit the Foundation. Other partners contribute a portion of a specific "Benefit" day. These dedicated benefactors provide an ongoing commitment to education in our community. Skiing For Schools days provides the largest share of the Foundation's revenues, raising approximately $758,000 over the past 14 years. By participating in a Skiing for Schools day, you have the opportunity to enjoy a great day on the mountain while benefiting the children in our community.

All other Skiing for Schools days will have a limited number of tickets available for purchase ($20) at all Porter's locations (Truckee, Tahoe City and Incline Village). Tickets will come available the week prior to each Skiing for Schools Day.

At 37 Participating North Lake Tahoe Area Restaurants
Dining For Schools. As part of this popular program, 37 restaurants in North Tahoe and Truckee offer half-off entrees during the fall (September 10 - December 14, 2006) and spring (April 23 - June 14, 2007). In addition, almost half of these restaurants participate in an "extended period" and offer this special discount during the winter months from January 7 to April 12, 2007.
The card is non-transferable but may be used an unlimited number of times at any participating restaurant during the valid period. These generous restaurants help the FOUNDATION raise about $55,000 per year, and $530,000 over the past 12 years! By purchasing a Dining for Schools card, each cardholder has the opportunity to both dine at North Lake Tahoe and Truckee's finest restaurants and contribute to the Foundation and its support of teachers and students in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District.
