SKI FOR ALL FOR TASS…
Tahoe Adaptive Ski School
By Sandy Kiyomura
It’s almost here! March 20 is the annual Ski for All for TASS. You might wonder, what is TASS? The Tahoe Adaptive Ski School is a part of Disabled Sports USA www.dsusa.org, a non-profit organization offering nationwide sports rehabilitation programs to individuals with a disability. TASS is located at Alpine Meadows and offers “on the snow” experiences to children and adults with various disabilities. Their motto is: “If I can do this, I can do anything”.
The Ski For All is sponsored by BAC. It is a much-needed fund-raiser for the ski school. There are two ways you can help. You may obtain a pledge sheet and collect pledges. If you have at least $60 in pledges, you will receive a lift ticket to ski at Alpine any time between March 5 – March 20. March 20 is the official Ski for All Day. If you have $100 in pledges, you will be entered in a drawing for some of the many prizes given out. And if you have $200 in pledges, you will be entered into another drawing for the skis or snowboard (and bindings) of your choice.
If you cannot ski at Alpine, you may make a pledge to DSUSA and I will be happy to add it to my pledge sheet. You may go to www.Après.org and there is a link to Pay Pal for this. Or you can send a check for DSUSA to me:

I have been a volunteer instructor at TASS for the past five years and have had some wonderful experiences there. The students I’ve taught have given back to me lots of smiles and hugs, lessons in gratitude and humility that I could not have gotten anywhere else. The next time you’re at Alpine, please stop by the ski school and meet their students, instructors and staff. Visit the Gentian Café there also. The food is great and proceeds go to TASS.
